Building is not realistic until you are working. And you have to bring in at least 1,500 net.

In Bavaria, for 400k you only find properties that you have to demolish or completely renovate. So a good idea, but not feasible.

As a then civil servant teacher, she will be well above that. The question then is what happens with the partner. A fixed-term contract until 2025 doesn't sound so good. Is there a decent prospect? If yes, one quickly reaches the 5,000+ € household income, with the inheritance one can then start something.

Probably not before that, unless you find a bargain (unfortunately everyone knows the probability of that).

Sounds better than some indefinite contracts. Termination can happen quickly – as many are currently finding out if no continued employment follows short-time work at the beginning of 2022.

It is always also a question of courage and confidence. Go and look for it and engage with what you want. Does it have to be new and perfect right away? Are you DIY inclined? Can you manage with temporary improvisation?

Then a price range will crystallize and you can become more concrete. By the way, it's also fun.

hi, I find your argument strange. We don't even know what the OP imagines under a house. How big should the plot be? Where, that is how high is the purchase price. I think anyone with a normal income (you have) plus 200k equity can build. The question is; how big and where.
