The family income is 2,500 net plus child benefit. Savings are only the inheritance. That's nowhere near enough for building.

Do you know the family’s lifestyle? Statistically, a family of four has a monthly cost of living of 1,300€. Besides that, savings, vacation, car, etc.... maybe it’s then 2,300€. Up to 2,900€ there remain 600€ monthly that can be paid in addition to the rent of 580€. 1,300€ for a loan, at the current interest rate, that means 350K for financing, plus equity. So I claim you can build for 590K. Also cheaper. So I find it inappropriate to categorically rule it out here, unless further parameters are known.

Yes, and if the washing machine breaks or you need additional financing, there is nothing available.

But with 1,600€ living expenses for 4 people you won’t get approved by the bank (in real life either, by the way) – for us it would be, for example, 1,800€.

You can also build for 580K. Then there is room for about 20 washing machines.
No, what I want to say is: no one knows the living conditions and the needs. So no one can judge whether that works.

I know newly built houses in my area that are under 400k.
