Can drywall be glued directly onto concrete?

First of all, I mentally can't quite keep up with why the finishing of the shell into a habitable house should start right in the basement.

Gluing drywall is a different level than screwing drywall onto an already balanced substructure. Aside from that, following the motto "temporarily finished - the nice part comes later," the concrete wall is already ready for painting or wallpapering and accordingly unnecessary to prepare it with drywall as a mere "coating." From a living climate perspective, plaster is more suitable; drywall is passive in all qualities when it comes to moisture regulation. In my opinion, the measure of covering the concrete wall with a drywall layer stands undecided somewhere between "naive" and "pointless."

naive and pointless?
you act as if I intended to line the basement with steel plates.
what exactly is naive about wanting to cover a concrete wall with gypsum boards? you expert! surely nobody has ever done that, everyone plaster, but without knowing why.
if you have no arguments, then please do not comment without arguments.
why not gypsum boards??? why plaster?
the room climate is supposed to be better with gypsum boards, as they can absorb and also release moisture more easily.

I can't help it if you don't want to read explanations. Why do you ask if it's already clear that you think your plan is great? - unfortunately, for some people only what confirms their idea is an "argument" :-(

To take some pressure off here: I believe the main topic was not about the thermal insulation of the air gap but rather about the possible feasibility of his project due to his limited budget and the later execution.

Properly gluing drywall to walls is indeed significantly more difficult than boarding them up. It should also be clear by now that the insulating effect is close to zero.

However, since a perimeter insulation and a concrete wall, possibly even a white tank, are planned here, no air or water vapor will diffuse. So there would be no need to worry about moisture. Lime-cement plaster would also not be my preferred choice here.

I would recommend gypsum plaster with a Q2 surface. The advantage over drywall is that there are no hollow spots in the wall if you bump into it or something else. It also won’t break if the children throw a ball against it, etc. Attachments of any kind on the wall could then be safely installed without any problems.

I would suggest that you possibly plaster the basement yourself or have it done; the costs are manageable.

As an example: Costs for about 350m² of wall surface (which you probably don’t have in your basement) approximately €4000 with gypsum plaster in Q2. Pre-treatments and primer work (concrete contact or burn-in barrier) then done as DIY (approx. €300 material)

The advantage would be that you could later upgrade to Q3 yourself simply by filling and sanding.

All just my opinion.

Is the basement even approved for living under building regulations?! If so, why is it not insulated from the outside in accordance with the Energy Saving Ordinance?!
