Hello everyone,

In the next few days, we want to lay a new vinyl floor over our tiles. For this, we first have to apply a leveling compound (2 mm) and then impact sound insulation and click vinyl. Unfortunately, our plastic door, which leads to a covered outdoor area, no longer fits afterwards. It is an older door, and I have not seen any possibility to raise the door a bit (there is space above).

Now the question for me is whether I can shorten the bottom of the door a bit (see photo)? Unless there is a way to raise the door? The look is beside the point, as we will replace the door anyway at some point (currently postponed due to lack of time and money).

Many thanks in advance.

Best regards
Daniel Kraft

What speaks against milling the screed in that area? It really works and you could create a slope towards the door.

At the door, you can remove at most 3-4mm, after that comes the seal and it starts to draft.

I don't quite understand, there are tiles laid everywhere, aren't there!? Nothing can be done at the door?

Did I read correctly that you want to lay the vinyl flooring on the tiles? Then the solution would be to knock out the tiles to gain some room. That requires some work and hardly any money. If the door has some play in the frame (measure it), you can possibly set it a bit higher. This is not intended with some hinges and then quite a hassle. Shortening the door will probably affect tightness.

Yes, exactly, leveling compound should be applied to the tiles, about 2 mm, and then vinyl on top.
