Horrido,
we currently do not have air conditioning in the house, but we want to retrofit a 2-unit multisplit for the upper floor. Since we have a roof overhang of just over a meter with open beams and I found a very inconspicuous yet technically suitable spot today, the idea came up to simply hang the outdoor unit on the roof beams in front of the wall. That way, I wouldn’t have to drill into the wall for the outdoor unit’s bracket and would just have a local locksmith weld a frame for beam mounting.
Has anyone possibly done this before? Google is not very helpful. Unfortunately, I have no experience with how much such an outdoor unit "hums," i.e., whether any noises would still be transmitted to the roof structure and thus the house despite rubber dampers.
