Hello! I want to buy a rotary hammer and have even found one on the Internet. It is a Bavaria rotary hammer. Does anyone have this? Does it work well?
Before giving a specific recommendation here, it would be necessary to ask about the intended use. There is a difference between just drilling a hole in a concrete ceiling or wanting to tear down a wall. Or removing tiles or ... Depending on the application, different devices make sense. How often will this use case occur for you? I would generally also recommend brand-name devices, e.g., Hilti, Metabo, Bosch (blue), or similar. However, I also have a cheap one from Worx, which is stronger than my other two. The Worx WX333 was rather an emergency purchase from the hardware store because I wanted to continue working immediately, and I was surprised how well it handled tile removal. Since that is not my regular activity, it did not necessarily have to be the expensive brand-name tool for that. My Metabo UHE2850 was sometimes a bit too weak for that. It is more of a universal device for drilling holes and a tile backsplash in the kitchen, even with a second chuck for normal drill bits. But it is a bit tedious for 100 m² of floor tiles and 2 bathrooms. And my old rotary hammer (Bosch blue GBH 2 SR) does not have a rotation stop for chiseling, which is why I bought the Metabo at that time. For drilling holes (if nothing bigger is pending), I do not necessarily want to use the Worx because it is also quite heavy. Then one of the smaller ones makes more sense. So, as I said: - If you want to use it frequently or money is less of a concern, then buy a brand-name device. Or look for a used device or wait for an offer if time is not an issue. Perhaps a reduced brand clearance model. - Depending on the application, choose a stronger or more handy device. Rotation stop (chiseling) required? Universal devices (combination hammers) are a good compromise for home use.
