But install a controlled residential ventilation system?

: The problem is that the ceiling needs to be thicker; the planned 18cm is not enough according to the structural engineer. And since we are doing the entire interior construction ourselves, we are better off with a higher floor structure in terms of cost. In addition, we have a prefabricated house in timber frame construction with an open wooden beam ceiling and exposed rafters in the attic without a roof peak (we even have 4m under the ridge), so you have to plan much more before construction.

Hello,

I hardly think it would be a good idea to connect the extractor hood to the controlled residential ventilation.

All the grease particles etc. from the "cooking exhaust" have, in my opinion, no place there, aside from the fact that an extractor hood works with completely different air volumes than controlled residential ventilation...

With controlled residential ventilation in the house, it is generally recommended to switch to a good recirculation hood for the kitchen.

Regards,

Dirk

We rely on exhaust air - no more desire for recirculated air and changing the activated carbon filter. You often read that you "only" need a "good recirculating hood" - however, I have not found a good one yet. I have now had three - the last one cost 600 euros. And I was also dissatisfied with it - so this time it's exhaust air.

I also wouldn't know what should disturb a controlled residential ventilation system - the window has to be opened for that anyway.

: Our recirculation hood operates without the need to replace the activated carbon filter. We have installed a catalyst in the filter that switches on automatically from time to time and reactivates the activated carbon.

We are completely satisfied with our recirculation hood from "Berbel."

Personally, I find it somewhat contradictory to insulate a building desperately on the one hand and to extract most of the heat from the exhaust air of the controlled residential ventilation system, but on the other hand to blow 200 m3 - 600 m3 of heated air per hour out of the house using an exhaust hood.

If you then consider installing a wood-burning stove, the exhaust hood brings additional factors into play that you need to pay attention to (depending on the stove and district chimney sweep).

Best regards,

Dirk

The hood is relatively off so much, I simply don't care about that. The chimney is present, for which there is then an integrated window contact. But your Berbel sounds interesting - I wanted to have the exhaust box from that. I'm also not 100% decided yet - but I don't want to waste money on crap again.

We will also install one from Berbel, I have seen it in action and am really impressed. Above all, very easy to clean. And I didn't want an exhaust air system either due to the effort involved, another hole in the exterior wall that then has to be sealed again with elaborate technical measures.

Unfortunately, these things don't exist for 600€.
