increased wear is complete nonsense for a central ventilation system. what is supposed to wear out faster just because the pressure equalization is possibly compensated differently due to an interference source (window). the ventilation system can theoretically generate 250Pa differential pressure, so the difference of <1Pa caused by an open window is complete nonsense. when we talk about increased wear, we mean that the system (fan) lasts not 20 years but 19 years and 10 months.

I would like to intervene here, as I have no idea about the subject at all. Does that mean an exhaust hood in the kitchen would no longer be necessary?

Yes, definitely.

No, an exhaust hood is not necessary. However, this has nothing to do with the [Kontrollierte-Wohnraumlüftung]. However, really good recirculation hoods are not exactly cheap ([Berbel], [Gutmann], [Novy] or similar).

I simply assume that he just meant a flue - a controlled residential ventilation system does not replace a flue due to the low air exchange rates. In addition, the greasy fumes are toxic for the ducts.
