Hello

I am interested in a bus system in our new single-family house.

What do I have to consider when planning?
How much does such a system cost?
Where can I get information about installation, etc.

Thanks for many replies

Hello,

For your house size, it should settle within the range of around EUR 20/25 thousand – open upwards depending on the scope.

Your electrician should be able to provide you with an offer and, if necessary, also recommend a service technician of the preferred system/provider for further explanations. I have just arranged such a presentation in the presence of my customer with a Siemens technician. Technology nowadays – in this specific case an EIB/KNX – is becoming increasingly complex, so it makes sense to have everything explained by a specialist.

If you are interested in the topic of home automation, it makes sense in my view to also have an alarm system connected; or at least to prepare for it.

Kind regards

Please how much? Holy moly. Considering how "simple" such systems are designed, the price is outrageous. To be clear, a bus system means something like: automatically controlling heating, automatically controlling shutters, managing lighting, webcams, networking the house, and all of that controllable via a tablet or web? Or am I on the wrong track? Is there more to it? By the way, if you plan to equip yourself with Miele@Home products: stay away. They are no good. We have them in use at the university in a smart home experimental lab. From an IT perspective, they do what they are supposed to, but unfortunately, they are hardly useful for cooking.

hi,

so I was also very interested in eib.
the first figures were then around 20k euros.

but once you have implemented the basic functions. so basically what I can do with the conventional installation as well, then we ended up with an amount of about 9k.

already significantly less than the first figures, but still too expensive for us

I think it can also be done cheaper or differently.
Ask how much it would cost if the lamp wires are pulled individually and continuously into the distribution. The push buttons as well.
Have impulse relays installed there.
Also, the sockets with a multi-core (wires) cable running to the distribution.

Then an empty conduit through each room (own work) and you are prepared for the first time.
With these conditions, you can gradually convert your electrical installation to a BUS system.

I am about to start renovating a house and will also install a BUS system (I am an electrician master). The complete electrical installation (material only) for a 155sqm house including BUS system, switch and socket material, distribution, cables will cost me about €7,000 - 8,000. Installation is own work. I use HomeMatic as the system.

The problem here is not (only) the material price of the components but the incredible costs the electrician wants for the planning/configuration of the installed components...

Then they act as if the whole thing is highly complicated... whereas with some technical know-how you can read up on it yourself in a short time...

And the best part is that for every change you want to make you have to call the electrician again who then charges 200€ for turning one byte once... -.-

My tip: buy the ETS software yourself (costs ~1000€) and then do the planning yourself... then you can change something yourself anytime if you want to install new sensors or if something bothers you in the old program...
