Exactly my point, Yvonne. At 5.5 m, it doesn't make sense with a garage and carport.

hm. We discussed for hours last night and thought that the "Carport" only exists on paper. For us, it would be used as a passageway or storage area for children's toys and such. The municipality's requirement is: 2 parking spaces. The area in front of the garage/carport does not count = there must be two adjacent spaces *sigh*. We definitely do not want to build a double garage now, because otherwise, we would have to give up the window in the kitchen. We just can't bring ourselves to do that.

A double carport was also mentioned. My first thoughts were somehow: If I go on vacation, the car will stand there for weeks. Or sometimes you are glad to be able to hang winter tires and other things in the garage. Or do you have different experiences? This whole thing is new territory for us.

Just a few food for thought: People in the city park outside all year round, with the money saved on a garage you can store and change your winter tires for many years.

But if you want the garage, sure. But in a 3x6 garage, there isn't an infinite amount of space either. If a garage, I would talk to a professional about how to make a shelter that possibly has no posts (that takes away another 18-24 cm from the narrow space).

For the community, you have 2 parking spaces with a double carport. How you then use them (passageway or covered breakfast terrace) no longer matters. Seeing a car in the carport means, "there are residents in the house." Certainly, GPS devices and airbags are often stolen from cars, but 1. only from favored brands, 2. the (personal) damage from a break-in at home is more serious.

Storage, garden shed, cellar... I would design it airy with a carport for you. Later you can also close off the sides of the carport, if necessary attach a shed to the left-side carport.

Regards
