“The 20-year fixed interest period is to be introduced, giving families longer financial planning security,” explained a spokeswoman for the department led by Federal Minister of Construction Klara Geywitz (SPD). Until now, the maximum fixed interest period was ten years. The new period is to apply from March 1, 2024.
