For civil servants, as an ordinary citizen you are basically half in prison anyway. I am currently having problems with the tax return. Now I have to prove every damn thing.

that is what the law provides for in this case. That should not be a problem. You should have had the evidence ready for preparing your tax return.

Yes, I do. But I don’t understand the point. Last year I sent everything along and then got a nasty letter saying I should stop because it’s not mandatory. This year I’m deducting more, didn’t send any documents. Nasty letter saying I have to prove this and that. It’s dragging on like chewing gum! It annoys me.

It's also "normal".... as an ordinary citizen, you get hassled for every little thing, and this doesn't only apply to dealing with authorities. On the other hand, you can't really get back at anyone.... we are here in the construction forum, I just say construction companies.... they can sometimes deliver shoddy work, etc.... even if it's obvious, the legal situation is such that, as always, companies are more protected. You have to fight everything out in court, often with an uncertain outcome. Therefore, most of the time people save themselves the hassle and nerves and almost forcedly swallow it. Regarding construction, all this shoddy work should finally be revoked by protecting consumers more.

And how does that help the OP with his problem?

I can sympathize with that. The back and forth is annoying.
