Dear forum participants We would like to motorize our Schenker VR90 shutters retrospectively. The dimensions are on the one hand 2.5m x 2.4m (WxH) and some other venetian blinds with the dimensions 1m x 1.5m (WxH). Our local shutter installer has offered us the retrofitting with radio motors for 600 francs per shutter for the installation of the motors and 350 francs per window for the electrical connections. That is way too expensive for me and a neighbor (electrician) told me that everything is already prepared (even cables have already been pulled) and only needs to be connected accordingly. He would make the connection for me for a beer (now I just don’t know if 1 beer per window.... :D). Now I am thinking about installing the motors myself. Does anyone of you have experience with this? Which motors would you recommend? Many thanks and best regards Patrick

Hello guggi75,

there are special motors for venetian blinds. The motor power you need depends on the width and height of the blinds; and whether you can install the motors yourself depends on your handyman skills. If everything is prepared, it should not be a problem.
Various manufacturers offer motors for retrofitting. Since I do not want to recommend any here, you can find a manufacturer yourself on the internet: simply enter "Motor für Raffstoren".

Alternatively, you can also ask a local electrician, who can also get and install a motor.

Order motors and have the beer friend install them. If he is an electrician, he will know what he is doing. Also, think about the control. Simple on/off or surge protection, sunlight-controlled, time-controlled, where the switches are located, etc.

...I forgot two things: 27a: Tighten the set screws on the shaft adapter

And the disclaimer: This is not an official Schenker manual, just my personal experience report. There may be issues with the warranty, etc. One should not necessarily have two left hands to follow this manual. And of course, I am not liable for any damages.

I hope this manual helps one or the other.

Good day everyone

This is a really great description and actually fits my requirements exactly. Can someone give me a tip on where I can get the material under the mentioned conditions? Everywhere I inquire, they also want to sell me the installation..

Many thanks and best regards
Roland

Hello Roland

I can tell you where I got the motors from. There was also a link in my post, but it was removed.
Will follow via PM.

Regards
Sebastian
