Small note: If the heating system is installed by yourself, an EE class is not possible.

If I have the air-water heat pump installed through the GÜ, do I automatically have EE or are there other conditions for EE, such as installation not being allowed as a DIY project?

If no second cooling or heating generator is present, it should be fine. However, only the energy efficiency expert who performs the efficiency house calculation can confirm that.

To revisit the topic. My energy consultant (also an architect) believes we can, for example, have windows replaced as own work (by a friendly master carpenter) as long as we obtain the material through a specialist company. That would be no problem for the subsidy (461 Energy Efficiency House Renovation). But now I read everywhere that own work is fundamentally excluded from the subsidy and that material is only eligible if installed by a company. What is correct now?

The brochure states it precisely: "Own contributions and material costs incurred in the process are not eligible for funding. Only services from professional companies and the costs of materials installed by an external professional company are recognized. Private execution, even by craftsmen, is not eligible for funding. A commercial execution is required, proven by an invoice issued to the building owners." (p. 4, Information sheet BEG Residential Building Grant Efficiency House 461)
