Hello, I have the following problem. We started building a semi-detached house in October. According to the construction company and site manager, the shell should have been completed by Christmas. Unfortunately, nothing came of it so far and only the basement stands. Unfortunately, the construction was not winter-proofed (please don’t ask why). Now it is the case that rainwater is collecting in some basement rooms and currently stands about 2-3 cm high. The basement walls are made of waterproof concrete and the interior walls of KS stone. My question to you is, can damage occur due to the water? Do you have any tips on how I should proceed now, since I probably won’t reach anyone until 07.0114? Thanks in advance!

If I were you, I would try to cover the hole on top with a foil and secure it with bricks (or nails) (bricks are available). Maybe you design the cover so that it looks like a gable roof (attach a squared timber in the middle). That way, no pond will form in the middle. 3 cm is not critical, but this way you can prevent it from getting more! Who knows how the weather will be at your place until 07.01. Do you have a cellar entrance?

We had a very similar problem. According to the building expert, it is not a problem as long as the water is pumped out and once the shell is standing, the basement is dried well (put in a construction dryer). We had to dry out our basement several times (a wet/dry vacuum was absolutely necessary) and then decided to cover the basement with construction foil. The covering worked perfectly and even during heavy rain we had no more water in the basement.

I don't want water in the basement and then temperatures below zero degrees..... And the idea with the [Bautrockner] is of course good and sensible, but it also costs a lot of money (especially electricity costs; just calculate the heating capacity yourself..) So everything is solvable, it just costs...
