Dear forum participants!

We would like to install new massive doors (e.g., steel) in the basement rooms.

Fire protection doors are easy to break through, so they do not provide real protection.

What we are looking for
- simple but exceptionally secure interior doors
- also an exterior basement door - which must be incredibly secure.

It should primarily serve as burglary protection or to prevent intrusion into or inside the house.

- thermal insulation etc. not required
- galvanized / corrosion protection is sufficient

- Who builds simple but heavy massive steel doors?

Since we have already had uninvited guests, it should be as massive as possible.
The financial aspect should not get out of hand either. So very simple but incredibly massive doors (e.g., high sheet thickness, hardened).

Who can help us with this?

Thank you and kind regards!

Hello

Well, that sounds like an expensive safe door you want. Furthermore, the sheet metal thickness is not the decisive factor, the frame and the locking mechanisms are more crucial. What also works is taking a standard basement door and installing two additional armored bolts on it. Of course, it’s a bit annoying to unlock them, but it gives a good feeling of security. There are also these bolts with lock openings facing outward; the burglar sees them and goes to the neighbor...

Even though it sounds a bit unusual, good burglary protection is a heavy roller shutter in front of the door. A lowered roller shutter is harder to overcome than it sounds. On top of that, such a sheet metal or aluminum roller shutter makes quite a noise when it is tampered with. Behind the roller shutter, I would then install an inexpensive side entrance door with multiple locking points. It can certainly be made of plastic; the fittings are what matter. Every obstacle is eventually overcome, but usually burglars lose motivation if it doesn’t go fast enough.
