Let's not kid ourselves, the investigative possibilities in this case are more than limited. The regular caseworkers within the criminal police simply lack the technical experience. Nevertheless, filing a report is not harmful. Because at the [lka] and [BKA], the situation is different. There, conclusions can possibly be drawn and then fit into a mosaic. Don't always throw in the towel right away. Every little bit helps. Nonetheless, I can more than understand the reporting behavior and the frustration over the police clearance rate in such a crime environment. But nothing will get better from the typical failure to report.

Let's not kid ourselves, but I work in this company. And yes, hit the nail on the head. Regarding the fact that a report is not harmful: it is necessary to know to what extent action is required at all. In Lower Saxony, there is officially a new field of work that deals exclusively with IT crime. However, this would not exist if everyone just stayed at home and the pressure to act apparently was not great enough.

Thank you for the information, but the rules only mention advertising regarding links.

Thank you for the information. I assumed that there is a centralized kind of investigation team that deals with new legal fields and takes appropriate measures, and not the other way around. I will forward the documents.

I have also received such a strange scam email:

Hello again, sorry for my late reply. I will write this E-Mail in english because my German is Not so good, I will also try below to write a summary in German. The property is available for sale, I have been the only owner and it was purchased cash a few years ago while I lived in Germany, I worked there as a civil engineer. For approximately one year, I have moved definitively abroad (United Kingdom) with my entire family, and I no longer need the mentioned property because both my children are in school here, also I have a construction Business and most likely I will return in Germany only on holiday.

Because I do Not have plenty of time to Deal with selling this property, visits with potenzial clients etc., I have decided together with my husband (an English citizen working in the Same field as I do) to hire an international real estate agency (with the headquarters in London, United Kingdom) that would manage the whole purchase agreement process of the property. I have already signed an exclusivity contract with them, as this is the third property to be sold with their assistance. All the documents(in original) are in their custody along with the keys of the property. The commission of the agency is entirely paid by us, and you will only pay for the notary documents, in case you agree on purchasing the property (after visiting it, of course). The property can be reserved in your Name for a private visit, an international Agent will conduct the viewing, he will have all the documents in original, so you can check it before taking a decision. Please, if you could tell me how do you intend to purchase the property? Can you pay cash or do you need financing? To contact the agency, I need a Copy of the ID (or passport) of the potenzial customer(s), I have already attached mine. After receiving the document, I will contact the Company and an Agent will give you all the required Details in order to plan a private visit to the property. Thank you for your interest, for any other questions, do Not hesitate to contact me via E-Mail.

    [*] Summary in German.
The property is for sale, I have been the sole owner and it was purchased cash a few years ago, while I lived in Germany, I worked there as a civil engineer. For about a year I have moved permanently abroad (United Kingdom) with my whole family, and I no longer need the mentioned property because both my children are in school here, I also have a construction business and most likely I will return to Germany only on holiday. Because I do not have enough time to deal with selling this property, visits to potential customers etc., I have decided together with my husband (an English citizen working in the same field as I do) to hire an international real estate agency (based in London, UK), which would manage the entire purchase contract process of the property. I have already signed an exclusivity contract with them, as this is the third property to be sold with their assistance. Does the specific property also appear in these emails? If not, I would dismiss it as typical spam.

Such emails go straight to my trash bin after reading the first sentence. That is spam, nothing else. I would have already inherited millions three times in Spain and secured several lucrative side jobs if I responded to such emails. But of course, there are people who want to be baited. By the way, in this case, it is the BPA data they are after, to then commit fraud with it. However, anyone dumb enough to give out this data should not be surprised if suddenly four-figure demands arrive from third parties.
