Thank you for the tip. We will try it first with a wooden dowel and filler. My husband is very confident that he can manage it. I will let you know if it worked. There were no problems with the larger doors.
If the wooden dowel is firmly glued in, it should hold. If the filler is supposed to hold the screw, it could be critical. It would be bad if it comes loose after some time and the door falls on someone's head.
