Asbestos buildings in the neighborhood. Buy property?

What does broken mean? Broken tiles or similar? In the end, it's all the same. Fibers in the air are the problem. Problem (not outdoors!!!). If the roof - in any way - breaks, it does not necessarily mean that hundreds of thousands of microfibers are in the air. And then all come to you at the same time.

Asbestos becomes a problem when it is asbestos dust. Bound, whether in whole or broken corrugated roofs, the stuff is harmless. To my knowledge, you can even eat asbestos fibers without it causing any serious detectable health damage (there was once a study on this, and the 100% proof that eating asbestos is dangerous was not provided).

And yet I wouldn't advise anyone to cover an asbestos roof wearing only shorts, just as little as I would advise crossing the street on a red light. Because the predisposition for a disease or cancer is also genetically determined. Not all workers from back then got sick; that would have been millions over the years. Asbestos was in everything, even bathrooms tiled until the 90s can have asbestos-containing tile adhesive. One person did it for 30 years and still smokes, another touched it three times and died from it. Yes, the fear of an asbestos roof is unfounded. But you don't need to make a mockery of it either. Because I bet, if you ever have to handle asbestos, each of you will wear a mask... then all the big talk about "covering 5 roofs without protection blah blah blah..." disappears.

Yes, the concern about a roof made of asbestos is unfounded. But there's no need to make it ridiculous.

I don't think anyone is doing that either. It's just that, also due to media reports, a panic has spread that is taking strange forms.

Because I bet that if you ever have to handle asbestos, every one of you will wear a mask... then all that big talk about "covering 5 roofs without protection blah blah blah..." is gone.

Not yet 5 roofs, but I didn't wear a mask on one of them ;)
