Are the additional costs for lime plaster instead of gypsum plaster realistic?

probably exactly because we (in this case ME) are laypeople and might fall for the sales arguments (although I can’t exactly say for us that someone tried to sell it to us). It is increasingly being promoted that they are more breathable and moisture-regulating. Then there’s always this magic word "mineral-based." We have now specifically questioned the additional costs for us. They come from the fact that the material is somewhat more expensive and the plaster is applied in 2 layers (so more labor). In addition, this option would be implemented in Q3 (instead of Q2). We have now talked again with many other builders. Most of the younger ones and basically all builders around my parents’ age have gypsum and are doing well with it. In the end, I think it is always a matter of weighing things up. The surcharge is simply too high for us, so we will stick with gypsum.

Does the house start to sweat then?

Many of us will have both types of plaster in the same house, gypsum in the living rooms, lime-cement in the bathrooms. Hand on heart, who notices the difference? I notice nothing.
