Plastic is not just plastic. So which one? If you want to be on the safe side, then sheet metal.

You also can't go wrong with plastic (rather standard than sheet metal). The better is always the enemy of the good. Better KfW 40+ than KfW 40 than KfW 55. Everything is established and works well.
So if sheet metal is even cheaper, then you really don't have to think twice. With that, you are not doing anything wrong but many things right. In my experience, plastic is often used because it is simply cheaper than sheet metal and represents a higher margin for the ventilation installer. I wouldn't think twice about it.
