Hello everyone,

I have the impression that the additional costs in the sanitary sector are far too high.

Example: Shower head in standard 0€ -> Shower head with rain shower 800€ surcharge.

Is that normal?

Can I request a breakdown into material and labor costs?

1. Surcharge from what to what exactly? Rain shower may, for example, also require different pipes due to increased flow. 2. Yes, normal. No, not normal. ==> What kind of job? Bathroom renovation? House construction? Developer? General contractor? Prefab house builder? ... 3. Why is a breakdown necessary (see 2.)? You can request a lot, but in house construction you don't always get what you ask for. In this specific case - I assume house construction - with 100% certainty not. Or did you sign a contract that already breaks down labor and material?

Contract already signed and we are talking about an upgrade? Then you can demand whatever you want, the answer will be "Do you want the rain shower? Then 800 EUR. No 800 EUR, no rain shower."

Take the standard and install the rain shower yourself later?

We are building with a general contractor and yes, the construction contract is already signed. The selection of fixtures, however, is not yet. The additional services offer only states the extra cost. I do not want to install the rain shower later because I have concerns about the larger cut in the pipes.

Then you will have to set off the 800 crackers.

Have you already asked the general contractor how the surcharge is justified? Some of the sample selections also seemed quite expensive to me during the first build. However, we had a good relationship of trust with the general contractor overall, so we simply asked. Many things became at least somewhat clearer to us. Of course, there are also margins included. If you don’t want to pay those, you actually have to stick to the standard after signing the contract and fix it later. Everything we negotiated before signing (e.g. air conditioning) was quite affordable.
