I once read somewhere that the facade would also be economically worthwhile, since you save on the painter (multiple times) later.
I have also come across this statement several times. That is probably only true under the premise that you actually have your facade painted every 8-10 years. But who established this value?! The German painter lobby?
Most houses here date from the 1930s or 1960s and none of them has yet seen a 4th coat of paint. The houses from the 30s mostly received a second coat in the late 60s (I assume they were simply embarrassed next to all the new buildings ) and then again in the 90s.
Due to the currently ongoing generational change, the houses are now being repainted gradually, and as far as I can tell as a watching walker, the coats were actually mostly still okay. Especially where they were repainted in the old color afterward, I could hardly see any difference between "cleaned" and "freshly painted."
