Hello,

we intend to tile the entire ground floor as part of our new construction.

We have the following facts/prices as an offer from a potential GU:

Area: 93 m²
Laying price with 40 EUR/m² tiles (up to 30x60) cm: 103 EUR/m²
Surcharge for laying tiles in the format 80 x 80 cm: 63 EUR/m²

Thus, the laying price for tiles in the format 80 x 80 cm including tiles valued at 40 EUR/m² is: 166 EUR/m².

Direct inquiries to tile setters have not been made yet.
What do you think of the price? It seems a bit high to us.

Thank you in advance.

The increase in installation price exponential to the size adequately reflects the additional effort.

Be glad about that, it does not fit your house.

That is very expensive, we paid an additional charge of about 22 euros. We also requested the installation from two different tiling companies, and it was supposed to cost between 55-60 euros (installation only, without tiles). I would get some more quotes.

Best regards
Sabine

Can someone post their own photos of the large formats? I'm still undecided.

"Format" in itself is initially absolute – you also have to be able to put it into the appropriate scale. This means: a large absolute format without also being generous with the dimensions of other elements / distances / passage widths can relatively shift the proportions in such a way that the overall composition looks the opposite of generous. Anyone who does not want to consistently afford the 120 cm stair width (or 30 cm more passage width between dining table and sideboard) or even still plans only 95 cm clear interior width of the guest WC should, in my opinion, reconsider 80 cm edge length for the floor tiles. Otherwise, the large checkerboard pattern can easily backfire.

60% surcharge just because of the more difficult installation? I find that excessive. Is he counting on an additional person to reach such an increase?
