I agree with you! We are also very happy to have a guest toilet. It adds value to the apartment. I just meant that it might not be very nice to leave the door open because of heat loss... but you don't have to wash when guests are there. Or they can immediately see where they are allowed to go.

Hello,

here I am again. After the floor plan is set, we are currently looking for tiles. As you know, we have a narrow bathroom with a two-leaf window. Of course, we don’t want to "crush" the room by choosing the "wrong" floor. Originally, I wanted a dark floor and light tiles on the walls because we currently have white tiles on the floor and everything is very visible on them.

However, we were mostly advised to use a uniform floor for both floor and tiles, as this appears calmer.

We have now discovered a light wood-look tile and could imagine it with white (matte) tiles on the walls (although we don’t want to tile the wall between the shower and the bathtub). But we want to tile everything (except the shower) up to 1.20 meters high, matching the pre-wall installation. With this arrangement, we are unsure whether the sanitary fittings (our beautiful bathtub, sink, etc.) would not get enough attention. (We have decided on a modern shower tray for the shower, which will be installed flush with the floor) (see picture, although there the wall tiles are in a light cream tone).

The alternative would be a brown shade, which would of course provide better contrast with the fittings. For example, we would use a lighter tone for the shelf to set accents. (see two pictures)

What do you think? I am grateful for any advice.

Edit: In the rest of the apartment, parquet (oiled, oak) will probably be installed.

Best regards

Hello Yvonne
Of course, here it is.
Only one thing has changed: The door opens to the left, i.e. towards the shower. We will place a stopper next to the shower so that it does not hit the glass enclosure.
I find it aesthetically nicer not to have the shower immediately in view, although we are still considering having the door open outwards, best regards

Has the room become bigger or the bathtub smaller?

Of course, a room in rather light colors visually appears larger. But I also always find a bit of contrast nicer. We chose our floor, in the similarly designed bathroom, in rust brown and the wall tiles light. Our shelves are also made with the floor tiles. It doesn't overwhelm me, but that really depends on the eye of the beholder. I find larger tiles more important in rather small rooms. I really like the ones from picture two. In picture one, the contrast would be too boring for me, although I also like the floor there. Definitely not easy.
