Thank you for the numerous responses.. So I was mistaken about the working space. I actually meant the excavation pit. It is about 3 meters wider on each side than the house. I come to 550 cubic meters and have to pay about €18,500 for disposal at €13.50/ton (LAGA Z0 incl. transport). The working space itself should be about 80 cm. Even with wet soil and a conversion factor of 1:1.8, it should be 990 tons. However, I have been charged for 1350 tons. I suspect that foreign soil was disposed of "together" in my name. When I called the landfill, they told me that the weigh tickets are valid even without the weigher's signature, as everything was recorded digitally. Unfortunately, I couldn’t be on the construction site constantly for 3 days (otherwise I could have counted the trucks). As an ordinary person, one also has to work. For backfill material, I was offered recycled material from construction debris (0-45mm) for €1.20 per ton for self-collection, or €8.40/ton for delivery. Do you think the material and price are okay?

What was offered? Isn’t that measured out on the property? Who brings in the fill material? Don’t you have an architect?

I am building with a general contractor. On my property. Services of the GC: Excavation of the building pit, side storage. Refill. If material (excavated soil) is not suitable, then remove it and have foreign material brought in. The site manager and architect are from the GC. I myself have a construction-supervising surveyor who is on site at certain appointments. He said that the recycled material was fine.

Recycled material is OK. It was also offered to us. However, it must be clarified beforehand whether it is allowed to be used. The price should also be right, we are similar with transport and installation. If [GU], then they also check all invoices, right?

I understand that about 20 tons fit on a truck. How far does the material have to be transported for just the trip to cost €140? Just for comparison, I paid about €80 for a truckload of backfill sand including delivery...

If the civil engineer was also contracted by the GC, then I would address the weight issue with the GC. The volume can be easily verified, and if to reach the weight of 1350 t a factor of, for example, 2.6 instead of the usual 1.7 - 1.8 must be applied, then he should explain that to you. Depending on what other projects the GC is building, he may actually be invoicing other excavated soil through you. For example, with us, there are several who also build larger residential complexes and then sell the apartments individually. There, after all, a lot of excavated soil is generated that the GC would otherwise have to dispose of themselves...
