Good evening everyone,

I am completely new here and since we will be renovating an old building in the near future, I have a few questions beforehand.

Maybe I will find answers here

So first about the house...

Semi-detached old building, year of construction still unknown.
In order to find enough space for our 3 children, we need to carry out some "conversions" and the garden also needs to be arranged.
The terrace (raised with railing) is tiled, which we do not like at all.

My question is now, can we lay a nice wooden "paneling" over the existing tiles to get a wooden terrace?

I hope someone can answer me.

Best regards
Lotta

It is possible - you just have to make the normal base. I wouldn’t lay it directly over the whole surface because otherwise the wood would be standing in water. The problem with wood is always that it causes problems when it is not completely underwater or completely dry. Always a little bit in the water leads to rot.

Many thanks for your reply...

I will take your advice to heart....

I'm just glad that someone actually replies here, so many experts and no one has anything to say

Regards, Lotta...

Hello EmmaLotta,

best use Massaranduba on 40x70 substructure fixed with V4A screws. Place the substructure on the 40 mm side, every 60 cm two screws through the profile boards. Do not forget to pre-drill with a steel drill and countersink. Compensate unevenness with mounting plates. Time required for 2 people about 1 day. Do not forget enough cordless screwdrivers. Costs about 40€/m2. Durability about 30 years. Oil once a year to keep the color, without oil it will turn gray over the years. Depending on the terrace size, the whole weighs 1-2 tons, nothing needs to be glued or otherwise fixed.
