I believe it is difficult to compare prices for stairs from different regions. Furthermore, it is important to consider what type of staircase it is. Not least, the different types of wood and their processing. One person values uniform coloring, which is difficult with, for example, beech, while another likes the irregular surface.
I can understand stair builders who strictly refuse to stain beech because the end result often does not meet many customers' expectations. One must be aware that display staircases never look the same in the house as they are presented. The closest to reality is when you look at various neighbors and get information there.

Best regards, Sigi

Why actually? When do they do it differently in the exhibition than later at the customer?

Lighting conditions, depending on the type of wood already darkened or bleached, different wood trunks also different oils, stains, or varnishes, type of stairs. You will probably never hear, looks exactly like this, rather something like this could look...

We have completely removed our staircase from the contract and ordered it directly from the GU’s staircase manufacturer. The surcharges our GU charged were beyond belief.

I immediately contacted a manufacturer - the price I mentioned (see previous posts) is therefore directly from the wholesaler.
