We have a large floor-to-ceiling window on the upper floor in clear glass (no one can look inside) and the front door below is frosted, so no one can peek through.

We will take frosted glass, possibly with clear glass strips. The decision is still pending. You can only look out through the clear glass strips, but you can also look in (if you want). Our friends installed mirrored glass. Of course, that only works as long as it is bright outside. As soon as it gets dark and the light is on in the hallway, you can no longer look out but everyone can look in. That's not for us!

Good point. Is it really like that with the mirrored glass? We were also planning to use mirrored glass in the entrance area, but if that's the case. Are there no alternatives that are not visible from the outside in daylight as well as at night, but only from the inside?

At my parents-in-law's, it is indeed like that, yes. In the evening, the view inside is optimal with the light on.
