Who has experience with cisterns?

use filter no. 1. It is completely sufficient.
I have the same, a 10m³ concrete cistern.
The water is crystal clear. So far, in 14 years, I have cleaned the filter thoroughly once.
This or next year I will completely pump out the cistern for the first time to see if the bottom is muddy.

Where exactly is the filter located in option 1? Outside? The cistern will be placed in the middle of our driveway and will practically be paved over (the lid of course not :)). I guess I can’t add anything else outside there anymore.

If I understand correctly, in variant 1 the filter is simply the bottom of the basket with 1mm gaps in the fabric.

Stop, I think we are mixing up the comparison table and my numbering while rolling the dice. Let's keep my numbering as the standard, so which number do you and Steven mean?

I just saw only the table in the answer, so I mean the 1mm filter all the way to the left in the table.

Your option 1 above is then probably completely without a filter and relies on rough material being intercepted already in the gutter?

I think there is no filter installed in the cistern at my parents' place either. Every few years it was sprayed out with a high-pressure cleaner when there was only a little water in the summer and then the sludge was removed with buckets.

Isn't a filter in the downpipe with an inspection flap enough? I would also think it is easier to clean.
