What kind of maintenance costs should you plan for with such a hot tub? Assuming it's not the cheapest device from the hardware store. We have space for it on the rooftop terrace, including connections, and are considering buying one when the neighbor is building next year and has a crane.

I would be careful with the rooftop terrace because of the load capacity.... it’s a pool + water, which is already quite heavy....

We have it in the garden.

Well, maintenance is chlorine, cleaning, changing water every 2-3 months + electricity for heating because the pool is always reheated when the temperature goes up.

Electricity costs hit the most. You can expect about €350-500. Water change costs about €30 plus the chemicals.

that's it

A stupid question: can I drain normal water with a bit of chlorine into the garden?

Load capacity was considered. Thank you.

We always kept a round pool running continuously; it has to circulate anyway, and you can just jump in spontaneously when it’s always at operating temperature. It consumes about 60.- per month; however, we only operated it in the winter, and it was outdoors.

We eventually gave it away because water maintenance became a hassle for me. I would have liked to have a dosing system. If it’s good, it costs as much as a pool. It only saves work if it also measures itself, not just doses.

Still, it was simply great. You will definitely have a lot of fun!

Best regards
Gabriele

P.S. Once the chlorine is used up, it doesn’t eat anything anymore either, so there should probably be little damage in the garden. But doesn’t it still have a lot of other stuff in it? Replace unstable acid with stable, regulate lime…regulate out…algae treatment…when changing water, clean all pipes with active oxygen, etc.? Ours ran at 38 degrees, otherwise life thrives in the water.

One must distinguish whether cartridge filters, sand filters, tablets, or dosing systems are used. Jacuzzis are usually operated with sand filters and dosing systems. More affordable whirlpools mostly use cartridge filters and chlorine tablets. Apart from chlorine and pH-minus, no other agents are needed. Circulation requires less energy than in a pool. Heating is more laborious. Generally, there is not as much water in a whirlpool. If the heating is operated sensibly, maintenance is manageable. Bubble and massage jets and their pumps are power-hungry. So it depends on the whirlpool, the equipment (expensive pumps are often more economical), and the usage behavior. Water loss is minimal if covered when not in use. If operated with the correct filter, no water change is necessary.
