Is there a clear overview of which "upper" control level manages which systems?

Isn't it possible to bring various systems together under one roof with Google Assistant? Provided one wants to put this in the hands of Google.

Only to a limited extent and rather rudimentary. So far from an intelligent home. It is also just another building block of a whole and is not to be understood as a top control level but rather somewhere in middle management.

Every manufacturer of such a system always has an overview of the possibilities on their website. An overview of all is rather ineffective because it is already outdated as soon as it is published.

Thanks, the tip about this overarching instance is a good one! I had only heard of io-broker before, but I couldn’t really place nodered yet. And I was rather concerned that it would all just become complicated and I would prefer to try to find a manufacturer that handles it all. Is there already an overview here in the forum of what’s available or what is this layer called so I can google it better? And do I have to expect longer response times because everything first has to be sent to the control center, or can subsystems easily connect via Zigbee and co?

Mediola could also be something to look into....

Island systems do not connect with each other. The communication between the systems is managed by the central unit or control. Processing times are always present, sometimes more, sometimes less. However, with current wireless protocols, these are already very low to hardly noticeable. You can always have problems with reception levels or signal strengths when radio is involved, depending on how congested the frequency band being used already is.

It gets complicated for you either way. Generally, the search term might be "smart home visualization" or "IoT gateway". But as I said: nothing will be easy, and it will tend to be a lot of tinkering if you want to do it yourself. There is no ready-made or out-of-the-box solution. I would worry less about speed and more about the situation where one of the many involved manufacturers changes something in their interfaces, then you are back to square one. But you always have that when you try to bring together so many toy solutions as best as possible.

The easiest way is probably to bring together everything that has "Alexa" or "Google" on it. That is almost a standard by now. For that, you then have Alexa and Google – but you have to want that as well.

That does not exist and that is not the point. VW does not manufacture all parts themselves either but has suppliers. It is the same here. You just need a conductor who then brings it all into harmony.
