Which plaster should be used? What are the differences?

Huh? Do you have a photo, that sounds very adventurous.

Somehow that is not very clear.

If the electrician went through the vapor barrier foil, he has to reseal it accordingly. The same applies if he damaged the foil.

At the connection from the foil to the wall, the foil is often plastered in. You can plaster again there. A plaster on the foil with insulation wool behind it is actually only rarely necessary. But then there would also have to be a plaster carrier on it. So I can only imagine that in small areas. If you have photos, you should show them, but as it is, it is hardly understandable.

The plaster should never be sealed. The foil must be tight, or the plaster is sufficient if the connection is plastered in.

Much has already been written correctly about plaster. There are also gypsum plasters with lime content, which are even cheaper in terms of material than pure gypsum plaster. So you have to know exactly what plasters were offered.

I would make sure to stay within the same properties for the plaster and its top layer. Lime is mineral-based and gypsum is not. For lime-containing material, I would use lime paint or the aforementioned silicate paint.

In our bathroom and sauna anteroom, there is lime on the surface. We only have automatic ventilation in the bedroom and still have measuring devices set up after 3 years. The lime absorbs moisture as expected very well. However, it releases it again slowly. This means we need to ventilate the rooms twice, not once, after thoroughly wetting them. The rooms are free of mold.

Best regards

Gabriele

The topic is a bit older, but I didn’t find anything more suitable during the search and I don’t think a new thread is necessary.

We would like to plaster some interior walls ourselves with clay. The interior walls of the house providers who are still in the running for us have gypsum boards as a finish, which are normally then filled, plastered, and painted by them.

Does anyone have experience with clay plaster on gypsum boards? Does the clay still "work" then?

how did you do it?

We had this done by the painter Stranzenbach from Wiehl. The substrate is Fermacell, they filled and prepared it and then created the surface with Lesando clay plaster with a straw admixture for the appearance. I don’t know exactly what steps were involved, the very cheerful team, master, journeyman, and apprentice had my full trust. We got the promised properties of the clay plaster, we feel really comfortable and so far have never felt that the air was too dry or "used up" on any day. I think the house smells pleasant, but I would not attribute that solely to the clay plaster, rather to the entire choice of materials.

Great, thank you very much for your answer! That's exactly what I wanted to hear

We will also be using Fermacell, so that definitely works. Whether you have to use a specific primer or something similar, we'll surely find out ☺️

The GUs do clay plaster for us only with an enormous surcharge, so we are now planning to do selected walls ourselves and then plaster them with clay.
