Where to place the terrace/living rooms if the street is on the west side?

Hello. I have tried to accurately draw the surroundings of our property to scale, as we find it very difficult to decide where we would like to have the terrace and our living spaces. The property has a street to the west designated as a 30 km/h zone. This is a street in a new development area, which will later consist of 40 single-family houses, meaning the corresponding cars will all have to pass by our property. Our parking spaces must also be located in the northwest. I have often read that the terrace is preferably oriented to the west if you are a sun lover. We are. However, west would mean that the terrace faces the street side for us. We are somewhat uncertain about the noise from the cars. We cannot assess this in a 30 km/h zone. Also, there may be a fence no higher than 80 cm, so people would be able to see directly onto our plates with a west-facing terrace. The same would apply if we put the dining room in the west. And in the living room, people would preferably not observe us so closely either... I know the perfect solution (sun from morning to evening and complete privacy) does not exist... Nevertheless, we would be interested in where you would place the garden terrace if you were in our position and which rooms you would locate on the west side of the house. Looking forward to your ideas and suggestions. Yours, Peter

Since people cannot be looking at their plates simultaneously at Schnuckline in BaWü and at your place in NRW, the crowd of onlookers will be limited.

There are two types of 30 km/h zones: streets that only serve a residential area and are not usable as shortcuts / traffic light bypasses for commuters (and do not lead to a supermarket) are the quiet kind.

And with low fences, the speeders are afraid that you can clearly see their license plates and then stick to the noise limits. As long as the municipality doesn’t install speed bumps on the road, little noise is to be expected. By the way, you are safest from such stupid ideas on the street where the building inspector lives.

Side privacy screens for terraces can definitely be higher. I wouldn’t stress about that.

... besides, a wide terrace on the south side fits wonderfully here, which also gets sun from the west. On the west side then a rather narrow terrace with an evening sun bench

Is the enclosure allowed to be only 80cm high on every side of the property or only on the street side (open front garden)? For example, I would fence in a corner of the terrace anyway with some kind of privacy screen (also a bush or hedge), then plant a solitary bush between the terrace and, for example, the driveway in the line of sight so that it is shielded from view. I will try to sketch it out.
Best regards, Yvonne

This is just an example.
As a gardener, you certainly know best which plants are suitable [emoji846]

Best regards in brief
