Thank you for your answers. It should cost me 1200 € with more or less good material. The material costs should be around 600 €. But the whole thing without cable from the distributor, only from the roof, through the roof to the distributor. I will do the rest to the sockets. It is an 85 Astro dish, mount, tiles, "good" sealing, distributor... I’m not experienced, but all splitters surely come in cheap/low-cost to high-quality, right? You could probably also use cheaper material, but whether I will enjoy it for a long time is questionable. I need the 16-way distributor because I already need quite a few connections for two residential units and partly install two cables twice for TV with twin-triple receiver so that later you can hang the TV in different places if you want to rearrange the furniture.

About the quality of satellite systems. We had a dish on our terraced house from Otto Versand, own brand Hanseatic, 1999. It is still intact including the mount. Despite proximity to the sea and salt air. That is not the problem. The LNB is probably already the third one. Whether Boca from China, Grundig, Skysat no name... eventually UV makes them brittle, water seeps in, dead. Therefore, mount the dish in a way that you can reach it yourself for replacement. I always attach the cables on the LNB with a drop of silicone. It is highly UV resistant and permanently watertight at that spot. The good picture is the responsibility of the receiver mounted on the TV. The cable quality is always the same. They last for decades.

That may also be true at first glance. A KIA runs just as well as a Mercedes....

It's just like with golden cables. If everywhere it has to say Kathrein, of course you pay double or triple. An 80cm steel dish remains an 80cm steel dish, no matter what is printed on it. If you want to spend more money, then just take an aluminum reflector. LNB costs 20€ and it’s good, why pay 100€ for Kathrein? LNBs are disposable items.

You can save the car comparison. If I receive the Astra program without errors, there is no more improvement. And any Aldi system can do that.
Addendum: To stick with the car comparison: VW has recently started cooperating with Tata from India because the German VW engineer can’t manage to produce a price-oriented product.

We have now solved the installation regarding LNB accessibility by foregoing the roof penetration, especially since a satellite dish exposed to strong wind will eventually ruin any penetration over time. The dish will get a small galvanized mast on the garage’s south wall. It will be mounted there. The cable runs outside in a conduit along the garage, under the eaves onto the roof, distributed to the three outlets. Advantage: the garage roof offers the most convenient access to the dish. The house wall protects from the northwest, where the strongest wind comes from. Karsten

Ok, 2 residential units naturally tend to double the demand.
If you want to rearrange TVs (i.e., have more outlets), you don’t have to have every outlet always connected to the multiswitch. You can solve twin tuners with unicable, saving outlets and cables.
But at the price of a multiswitch, none of that is really a big deal anyway. As long as it’s not a Kathrein, at least

smartly solved
