Hello everyone,

we are planning to build a 180 sqm city villa (i.e. 2 full floors) without a basement.

The house should be built from Poroton bricks in a monolithic wall construction. Underfloor heating is to be installed and a wood stove should be used in the lower living area (approx. 65 sqm living room, dining area, kitchen).

Location Hessen. Gas connection is possible. The house will be inhabited by 2 adults and one child (possibly 2 at some point).

Which energy concept would be most sensible here? How should windows and walls be designed in combination with the proposed energy source..?

Thanks in advance for helpful tips.

Best regards, Floy

Hello!
If you can afford a house of this size, I would strongly advise you to find an SHK specialist planner or architect with expertise in building services engineering to support you in your considerations.
Here are a few suggestions and thoughts.
- Since you wrote that a gas connection is available, a gas condensing boiler would certainly be a good option to ensure the heating supply in the building with minimal effort.
- In addition, since you also want to provide underfloor heating, it might be useful to use solar energy and set it up to support the heating system and hot water production.
- Furthermore, the wood-burning stove should also be integrated into the hot water and heating system via a water jacket so that little energy is generated that is then lost.
- Regarding your inquiry about windows and walls, a description of the floor plan and window arrangement or a plan would be helpful, as further suggestions can only be made after assessing the geometry.
In principle, especially when planning a new building, one should try to consume as little energy as possible as long as this is still economically justified, but beyond a certain point, one should also admit that it is cheaper to maintain the insulation standard and „consume“ a certain amount through operating costs.
