Ok, that made me laugh. :) There’s some truth to it, I also can’t rule everything out. I’m just thinking about the ongoing costs until then and the probably necessary investments after 30 years. We’re not really comfortable with any option so far, so your feedback here really helps!

But one could also build a simple outbuilding for that purpose. The price per sqm there is certainly quite different than for additional living space.

Absolute agreement on the “organic label.” That’s also the reason why we can live so inexpensively in the generally disparaged panel building centrally in the city. Normally I avoid that kind of thing, but here I do see an advantage in the — absolutely considered — low construction costs. Initial talks with Schwörerhaus point to a total of around 200k€ including transport and foundation. Even after subtracting KfW funding, a lot of money for 50 sqm.

Those are good ideas, we’ll gladly take them on board. Unfortunately, the bungalow looks really unattractive on the outside with its small roof overhang, small windows and gable roof. :/

a mixture of our weekend house, holiday home, and imagination has ultimately become our bungalow

Believe someone who has been planning residential buildings for over 40 years that this is a botched idea. If the price per square meter bothers you, then look at prefabricated houses, and not in the league of Bien-Zenker / Schwörerhaus. I live in a brick house; the Trizonesier simply cannot make panel buildings at world-class level. The organic label prices, however, are in the market segment Tinyhouse & Co, here once less specifically at the upscale provider.

We already discussed this topic here a few days ago, Helma once offered a 100,000 EUR shell house. Maybe that is an option. But I don’t know if they still do that, or what is included then.

No, forget the big names with their bait offers, Helma as well as Heinz von Heiden and the like. I’d rather think of Scanhaus Marlow Marlow / Danhaus or something similar. Shell houses are always better taken from discount standard builders or even directly from the shell house specialists. It’s cheaper to drive a Seat than to downgrade an Audi to zero special equipment.

So 300,000-320,900 without land? For a payment over 1000€ monthly, I would lease a motorhome for half the money. Or lease a dacha. I wouldn't want to be tied to one place for the weekend or vacation. There are too many activities or events offered. For the second home? Is there a subsidy for that? Basically, it is never optimal to own property that you do not have under daily control. What could be relevant for you: unstructured plots of land, for which there is no building obligation, can be used with a tiny house, camper, or similar.
