Encouragement
The old weekend houses had no heating, i.e. were not winterproof and are being discontinued by the dozen.
Single-family houses and multi-family houses are built and inhabited on the plots.
Therefore, build properly, your light plan already costs 200-300k€ and that as an interim solution?
What will happen in 40 years, neither of us knows,
maybe marauding gangs will roam Berlin,
or a self-driving car will take you to the doctor and shopping, or or or.
I would build a proper house and not just a summer residence.
Ok, that made me laugh. :) There’s some truth to it, I also can’t rule everything out. I’m just thinking about the ongoing costs until then and the probably necessary investments after 30 years. We’re not really comfortable with any option so far, so your feedback here really helps!
The question says her answer is no.
I wouldn’t want to fetch my non-tenant bed linen and my non-tenant coffee cup etc. from the attic under the pull-down stairs every time I use the place myself.
Outside there are only little pots: in my perception, the entire market segment Tinyhouse & Co is subject to the organic label surcharge. Minimalists’ world-saving mission is worth an avant-garde price level, and in market economies a principle is that purchasing power wants to be tapped.
But one could also build a simple outbuilding for that purpose. The price per sqm there is certainly quite different than for additional living space.
Absolute agreement on the “organic label.” That’s also the reason why we can live so inexpensively in the generally disparaged panel building centrally in the city. Normally I avoid that kind of thing, but here I do see an advantage in the — absolutely considered — low construction costs. Initial talks with Schwörerhaus point to a total of around 200k€ including transport and foundation. Even after subtracting KfW funding, a lot of money for 50 sqm.
I find the first floor plan also good for the purpose. I might consider removing the current “guest WC.” Making the room a bit smaller, thereby giving the cloakroom more space, and integrating the remaining space as a walk-in shower into the bathroom. That would be more important to me personally in my holiday home than a separate toilet.
But just a suggestion, after all you must have thought about this.
Those are good ideas, we’ll gladly take them on board. Unfortunately, the bungalow looks really unattractive on the outside with its small roof overhang, small windows and gable roof. :/
