Is it worth considering water softening in a single-family house with a total hardness of 13.7-16°dH? For me, the main aspects are cleaning and protection of the sanitary installation.

Osmosis systems are not really suitable for this. Osmosis system with resin, does not last long until the resin is used up. Disposal or regeneration as well as (expensive) new purchase of resin. Reverse osmosis systems are clearly better in terms of maintenance but have high water and electricity consumption. And who wants pure water anyway? Depending on how "pure" the water is, it is very aggressive or reactive. It is therefore also used for cleaning windows, facades, etc. We have installed a BWT aqua Perla with two columns.

Calcareous water also causes small leaks to "seal" themselves. My grandpa used to wrap leaking pipes with adhesive tape, and after a few weeks, they were tight again even without the tape...

Does this still work if a water softening system is installed? Presumably not, right?

For device protection, we have a BWT aqua perla. Our water comes from a deep mineral spring (very small village cooperative), very tasty and quite "hard" with 26dH. We draw drinking water from an unfiltered line because it tastes better. To my great surprise, coffee from the ECM also tastes very good with the softened water, although I originally wanted to treat the water for the machine specifically with reverse osmosis. It is not necessary.
