Hi,
have you asked the manufacturer if something like that is allowed? Maybe sealing profiles or similar are intended there, which are missing in your case.
A fundamental disadvantage of decentralized ventilation systems is, after all, that holes are made in the walls everywhere. And if there is wind at 40-50 kt, water can certainly run back up a slope. Only, basically no water should be able to get in there.
Are the cover caps closed at the top or can the water running down the facade from above get in there?

Best regards,

Andreas

Hello Andreas,
unfortunately, I cannot assess whether the systems were installed with a slope or whether they are properly compacted.
The question about the water from the house wall also arises for me.
With the installation of the [Wetterschutzhauben], we had to drill 4 additional holes in the wall to fix them.
I currently hope that all the additional openings on the facade do not additionally contribute to the water ingress becoming stronger.
I am now monitoring the whole situation after we installed these [Wetterschutzhauben], hoping for improvement. It happened for the first time after 1.5 years. If in doubt, I will contact the manufacturer.
Thank you for the feedback

We had the system in our rented apartment, without weather protection covers, and even during heavy showers there was never any water ingress.

I also believe in personal bad luck, because a slope is actually completely irrelevant when water (rain) is pressing against the opening. It is not about rain falling at an angle, but rain driven by Sabine, so with force being applied.

How is that? Is something like that insured? Does the building insurance cover it? Or is it an act of God?

Storm damage.. that should be part of the residential building insurance; if something in the household contents is damaged by water, then the household contents insurance applies accordingly.

Funny how some users think the ventilation system is simultaneously an irrigation system during heavy rain despite the protective cover.

Get an expert or check yourself what went wrong there. Then document accordingly and submit it to the responsible party.

Normally, this can definitely not be the case!

But with "us fools," you can get away with it.

With a millionaire who has an expensive painting hanging there and money for lawyers, he wouldn’t make such a botch job! And if he did, then only once!
