I know, my post wasn’t entirely serious either / a bit provocative. It just tempts you to implement a measure that, all in all, considering calculationally and realistically, barely makes a difference, and then pat yourself on the environmental shoulder and say "I did something." If we really want to become more sustainable and positively change something, then we all have to turn the bigger screws, which usually inevitably mean sacrifices in comfort. Not driving to work by car anymore, buying only locally produced fruits / goods, avoiding stores like Tedi, Action, and Kik (because their goods are cheap but shipped here at a high environmental cost), enforcing a ban on New Year’s fireworks... we still have so many major issues in society that it really annoys me excessively when I read that someone wants to struggle with the two mixers in everyday life, just because of such a comparatively insignificant issue.
I’m in no way saying that I’m some kind of holy Jesus who does nothing wasteful. But I always think, if someone wants to do something, then they could surely come up with something better than half a liter of warm water.

Hello pagoni2020,
please note the smiley. Of course, the statement was not exactly "technically sound". It was rather meant
to casually point out the general fact that these very comfortable single-lever mixers
are almost always operated in the middle position. If that weren’t an issue, Hansgrohe would not
address exactly that with Coolstart.

Oh yes, the often-mentioned mixing problem with two-handle faucets (water consumption,
risk of scalding, etc.) we both do not see at all. Maybe simply because we
grew up with conventional taps.
We don’t mix water for minutes, nor do we turn on only the hot water and then wonder
why it suddenly gets hot. For others, maybe totally old-fashioned and uncool.

So it’s simply a matter of an individual, personal opinion and I’m looking for a
technically satisfactory solution for US
(my wife feels exactly the same, she just doesn’t pay much attention to it in daily life!). And you gave me a very good tip with Coolstart.
Thanks again, all is well!!!

Jörg

Unbelievably bad example. A cargo ship can easily carry 300,000 tons of freight. You can hardly transport more "environmentally efficiently". A single kiwi that comes from New Zealand to Germany by sea causes more CO2 on the transport route by car from the supermarket to home than on the transport route from New Zealand to Germany via freight ship. Economies of scale.

Do they really? I don't think so. Honestly, anyone who can't manage to operate a lever correctly so that only cold water comes out should have their hot water connection shut off.

That would be my suggestion. Where there is no hot water supply, none can be consumed either.

: I know what you’re getting at and basically agree that fake news is often spread on this topic, but for this extreme example I would like a source. Either calculate it or provide a Google search tip for the source...

Hi Kati, don’t worry, I want and wanted tips and am happy to face critical statements and opinions. I explained my motivation because I’m hoping for tips from you and not a statement like "use single-handle mixers, they are available from all manufacturers in a tall design." Honestly, I wouldn’t need a forum for that. It is and remains an individual, personal wish of both of us and we have learned in the last 60 years that you can sometimes implement your own wishes, even if they are met with incomprehension in the eyes of others. And even if it is just a faucet or a washbasin. Regards and thanks again for all well-meant tips Jörg
