Tell me about it. We have many defects in the parquet. 400 EUR were given for wavy installation, one spot had to be redone. It stands out.
In the hallway, extremely poorly lacquered. It should be redone. Nothing happened. Cracks repaired, nothing happened.
The roughly sanded corners correspond to [DIN] etc.
An expert was there. Completely sanding, repairing damages, etc. is not proportionate and you will always see some things.

You will also have to deal with proportionality.

Oh dear, my parquet fitter called me today. He is not amused about the statement that it can be repaired and is not a problem. He says, you will always see that and you will not be satisfied with it. Besides, he knows me too well. However, he suspects not a transport damage, but a wind crack or a production defect. Everyone makes assumptions... that's just how life is. In the case of transport damage, the pallet would be damaged, he or his people would have seen that and not installed it in the first place. Honestly, I believe him too. He's no suicide, he has known me long enough to know that I want quality and am willing to pay for it. His next problem: When will the repairs stop? My objection: Wind crack - and of all people I get it, so other customers must have been affected too, right? The representative said he hadn't seen that before and had no complaints yet. Let's leave it at that, said my parquet fitter - he won't tell you everything either... We have now agreed: the parquet fitter will come, do a few spots and then we will see. But he thinks we need a publicly appointed expert and hopes to be able to prove the cause of the damage. If it doesn't get worse after winter... I would already be satisfied. But who guarantees me that? Oh, that pisses me off. If it were floating installed, I would say just close your eyes and get through it. You just tear it out after a few years and put in a new one - but it is glued. That effort....

What use are a few hundred euros to me, I don’t give a damn about the money. I spent money to get something decent...!

Did you then sand everything down? But that makes the floor less durable – you can only sand it down twice, right?
Although in my old house, the floor was still top quality after 14 years – in 20 years, my kids want something new again.

Sanding is, in my opinion, absolutely overrated and is done far less often than said. If the parquet is not mistreated, it lasts a long time. Nevertheless, I do not know if your floor would look like new again after sanding, otherwise that would be an option. As I read, you have a good parquet layer at hand; I would also follow his opinion.

Sanding could be done more often. We have 8mm. No, we didn’t do anything at all. There are probably other defects, and if we sand, that’s the end of the warranty. The expert costs money and we have already seen what comes out of it. We’re not in the mood for that hassle at the moment. In 3 years we’ll let it be sanded. It should then be done by the parquet fitter who worked at my parents’ place. He did a clean job and there was peace for the next 25 years. A properly done floor lasts a long time. You always notice individual boards being replaced. The floor will be a patchwork quilt. Everyone agreed on that. I don’t want that parquet fitting crew in the house anymore. They didn’t make any mistakes and the rework is supposed to turn out good? I’m not that religious.

Was an expert with you now or not? I first understood it as if the expert told you it has to be sanded..... now you’re writing in 3 years about a different parquet fitter.

You know, mine has always done top work all these 20 years. He’s not exactly cheap, but good. You can always have that happen to you. Only at my daughter’s house we were shouting at every trade: Please come and slam it so it really works..... I could write books.....!

If someone told me what all happened here, I would never believe it.

I’m currently building my own house – it already started with a huge damage during the cellar excavation. Trench walls along with the neighboring garden slipped because of constant rain – and no insurance pays. There is such a thing, it’s called “the small print.”

Or you only get half the conditions and somewhere it says that’s just an excerpt from the conditions.....

Growing old is a challenge, but building nowadays is like suicide.
