Does anyone have experience with Plexiglas and can tell me how to make it a bit more resistant to scratches or alternatively a bit matte so you don't see every scratch immediately?

Really cool modding idea, I like it!

I wouldn’t use Plexiglas at all because of the susceptibility to scratches.
How about glass instead?
For example one from a picture frame, they are often already anti-reflective or somewhat matte on one side.
Or just ask nicely at the glazier if he can cut a leftover piece to size for a coffee fund donation.
For mounting, then also use an aluminum panel.

Instead of a huge hole, I’d try something else:
Either a rectangular cutout or an elongated cutout with rounded corners.
So drill two holes with a Forstner bit (15 or 20mm should be enough) so that the connector fits through. Then cut away the remaining strip with a cutter.

Best regards, Stefan

For the next project, certainly not a bad idea. However, the plexiglass panel is already there and so far still largely scratch-free (largely... even drying it after washing has left small scratches). But if the panel continues to scratch at that rate, I’ll have to look for real glass. Not a bad thing, but the hole for the other cables is already there and unfortunately quite torn... so I will just make it a bit bigger.. then the VGA cable will fit through and at the same time I’ll get rid of the torn part.

I think the only help is a protective film or to use scratch-resistant plexiglass right away.
