By the way, it is legally regulated that ringing your gate is sufficient reason to record and store an image of someone. There is a limitation regarding storage, but I don't recall it exactly right now (I think 4 images per person or so).

Someone rings -> recording follows? And only then? Ok

Exactly like that. Especially essential in multi-family houses, since the entrance is usually always on public ground.

There are these systems as a set, including a TFT screen, which you can then hang in the hallway, including a door opener. I do not need a screen in the hallway, though, if I am already in the hallway, then I can just look out the door.

What is this privacy function? And why is it then obsolete?



Even if you record your neighbors in the process?

Basically yes, but you may only start the recording if the doorbell rings. However, there are certainly regulations regarding what you are allowed to record (i.e., a small camera at the doorbell position vs. a camera from the house capturing the entire neighborhood), about which I have to pass on the specifics. I dealt with the topic more intensively some time ago, but that was a few months ago and not everything is still in my head.
