The OP did write that they get that for 3k more. And regarding the wiring, as mentioned here, it doesn’t get more complicated but simpler. When you have electric blinds and remote controls, KNX is even cheaper in a click/clack comparison.
I have routed all 'supply lines', meaning sockets, lights, etc., star-shaped into the distribution board. And for the sensors (switches, presence detectors, temperature, etc.) I have a KNX line to each room and then distribute there.
The huge advantage of KNX is that you no longer have those switch orgies on the wall. As an example, a room with 5 blinds, 2 lamps, and remote control. Normally, you would need 5 blind switches, 1 thermostat, and 2 light switches (costing about 195 euros including frames etc., standard price online), the whole thing with KNX costs about 300€ (including actuator channels). If I now assume 10 rooms, I’m at additional costs of around 1000€. The electrician’s working time for drilling/sitting boxes, laying cables, etc. doesn’t change because instead of laying 5 NYM cables from the switch to the blind, he lays the lines from the distribution board to the blind and to the switch with an EIB cable. Extra effort <= 0, it’s actually less because he has to drill fewer boxes and the chases become narrower.
What also comes on top is the system’s parameterization. For simple click-clack without much fuss, that’s done in a day. At least if the electrician knows what he’s doing. Everything above that cost is bonus for the electrician!!!! (And in this case, I know exactly what I’m talking about)
And regarding the objection about the motion detector with just click/clack vs KNX. Yes, you can also do that classically BUT you are limiting your possibilities for the future. And the extra luxury that even a minimal KNX installation brings. (Just have a central control done classically, you’ll be amazed what the electrician charges you!!!)
So green cable to all switches and the rest star-shaped into the distribution board, nothing more is needed.
And as for visualization, I myself run Fhem, Edomi, and Smartvisu on 3 Raspberry Pis to see what suits me best...
