Use a carport as a patio cover?

Thank you very much for all the answers! I will gladly post a picture once the work is done... At the moment, I am searching online for a suitable carport. My problem now is the roof: it should be made of plastic but be as translucent as possible. With most carports, I am not sure how translucent the roof really is  Oh man, I think I need to go see a few carports at the dealer and get advice on site. I don’t dare to plan everything myself and buy the individual parts...o_O It will probably come down to a kit.

@ocandoit: I was thinking of clear twin-wall sheets. Do you maybe have a tip for me? Laminated safety glass would of course be great, but unfortunately it is also quite expensive. Therefore, I am looking for something that comes as close as possible to clear glass.

Something like this is what I had in mind... The dimensions would be perfect. However, it has a simple, slightly wavy PVC roof on it, and I would like clear twin-wall sheets. Do you think I can buy it like this and then buy the twin-wall sheets separately and screw them on instead of the PVC roof?

How high are the snow and wind loads on your end?

What roof pitch is planned?

It's not quite that easy. The twin-wall sheets expand with temperature. So they may only be clamped. There are appropriate profiles for that. Also for the connection to the wall and at the drip edge.

Do you really want a support in the middle?

Without support in the middle would be preferable to me, but that is correspondingly more expensive. Mine works as well. I’ll let a rose climb up it then :)

True, the panels would have to be clamped with profiles. The house wall is about 80 cm deep along the entire length of a balcony covered. So the roof wouldn’t have to align with the house wall. It could simply start below the balcony.

Whether the (missing) slope is a problem, I’m not exactly sure. Snow load can be neglected, I think. It almost never snows here. And if it does, maybe 2-3 cm for 3-4 days at most.
Only the drainage of rainwater would have to be considered. Is a drainage system planned for normal carports? Like a minimal slope and the water then runs in one direction? It would of course be important that it runs toward the garden and not to the house wall.
