Hi,

actually I wanted to cover our garage with porcelain stoneware. But the screed installer has pulled the cement screed right up to the edge of the rail. If I now lay the tiles on top of it, they will probably crack quite quickly. Is there still a way to protect the edge?

Regards, Michael

There should be suitable, drivable tile adjustment / height profiles with and without ramp available on the market. If the screed layer installer had been aware of the desired covering, I would have him make corrections!

He did not ask and I did not pay attention during installation.

I would stick a flat stainless steel angle after tiling. About 4 x 4 or so. It doesn't build up much and with water from outside you also have peace of mind right away.

The proposal from "Tommi27" also seems to me to be the most sensible and the most cost-effective solution given the described situation. Why should the tiles, as far as they are supported on the back by the screed, break off? The only "crucial point" is when the vehicle tires hit the tile edge when driving over it and thereby create shear forces. With the L-angle, which is firmly attached not to the tiles but to the finishing profile, the problem, which in fact does not really exist as such, is solved! Regards: KlaRa

The situation is always the same ... It is not thought through to the end. Your screed stop profile (I'll just call it that now) is probably outside the gate? It will rot away in a few years anyway. Apart from my first statement, a T profile between the pavement and the garage would also look good..
