Hello,

after much to and fro, we have decided to build a wooden house on our basement (by one of the local carpentry companies). Now the offers are difficult for me to understand, but it is clear to us that we would pay a bit more for a good wall construction (regarding durability, indoor climate, etc.).

The offers are quite different, some insulate with cellulose and OSB plus Pavatherm plus, others partially with mineral wool and so on.

Are there any good experiences with a particular wall or roof construction (here, insulation above the rafters) that you would already place value on? Since we live on the edge of the forest, it is important to me to have something resistant to rot, mold, insects, etc.

As I said, it does not have to be the cheapest

Regards

What is the reason for wood instead of stone if you have not yet decided on a wall structure?

If you have already decided on a company - what kind of concept does the company usually work with? Does it make sense to let someone loose on a system they have no experience with?

Well, we actually came to wood via the facade... we want a shiplap cladding with a ventilated facade (towards Swedish style). Now, with "normal" construction companies, I was often advised against many things... Better take a plaster facade, rounded windows don’t really help... Now I visited two carpentries and there everything was, how shall I say, much more optimistic... Always, yes we can manage that.
Now, for us, Kfw70 with stone and gas+solar would already have been a challenge, with wood it doesn’t seem to be an issue (so far).

My question was more about the roof and wall construction with timber frame. I have one offer with cellulose insulation, one with wood fiber and/or optionally with hemp insulation. Each system apparently has its advantages. Pavatherm is apparently used by almost everyone for the exterior walls etc...

Therefore the question goes to those who are familiar with insulation and can give me an insulation recommendation. I would like to avoid mineral wool.

Regards!

All three insulation materials work. Depending on the local requirements (noise / heat protection, statics, house design), sometimes one, sometimes the other may have advantages, and it simply depends on the respective company which solution it has more experience with.

Why don’t you get advice from an architect? 1-2 hours of consultation costs are peanuts compared to a decision you will regret for the rest of your life. You don’t necessarily have to build with the architect, just get advice!
