Bathroom and

I can tell you why this happened with us: because the general contractor simply did not allow other craftsmen before acceptance. Completely removing the tiling work would have meant no fine installation, only the sealing and rough installation would have been included. Warranty in these two potentially damage-prone locations ((water damage) would have been lost. Getting a craftsman appointment directly after acceptance? Questionable. Even if, it also takes some time which means appointment delays, terminating the old apartment would be harakiri, double rent payments. And we would then have had to take over the construction management, i.e., the interfaces with the drywall installer, electrician, and plumber. All that during a critical construction phase... no, thanks!

Did I say that I would take him? I am keeping my options open.

Our general contractor doesn't see it that strictly. He doesn't care if I subcontract the work elsewhere. But you are of course right. Your option is better regarding warranty. But if I can pay 5k less, I'll accept that...
