We have the transition tile baseboard -> wooden baseboard like little white towers - looks great (we think).

That is purely a matter of taste.
Tile baseboards are more robust when it comes to moisture, scratches, or dirt.
They can also be produced relatively inexpensively from leftover stock or offcuts.
With the help of, for example, stainless steel profiles, the tile baseboard can be enhanced somewhat.
With baseboards, you can create more contrast in a room. But also in terms of design, there are more alternatives with baseboards.
They are also relatively quick to install and can be replaced if disliked.
One should be careful when installing baseboards. There are click systems or just simple strips. In both cases, watch out for possible pipes in the wall. (e.g., water-carrying plastic pipes for conventional radiators or frost-proof outdoor taps).

Would be pretty expensive with stainless steel strip - although that already looks cool. Kehr....

The moisture is definitely a good argument for the tiled baseboard, since we often damp mop because of the dog. I really like the gray tiled baseboard in the picture above.

The baseboards with click systems have a disadvantage: they are only flush with the wall at the top if the wall is straight enough. This is often not the case, especially in old buildings. I also have a few spots where you can easily look in from above. You might be able to disguise this with acrylic, but since I don’t have white wallpaper there, it will probably look bad as well. Usually, I had a cabinet in front of it, so I left it as it is. In the next room, I will pay more attention to this before wallpapering and, if necessary, fill in the roughest unevenness so that the board fits well at the top.

Hello,

we had uniform porcelain stoneware installed throughout the entire ground floor - with the exception of the (guest) bathroom.

Our construction company offered us the alternatives of wooden skirting boards (standard) or skirting tiles matching the floor tiles (at an additional cost).

Ultimately, we decided on the skirting tiles because we simply liked them better.

As mentioned above, the skirting can of course be cut from the offcuts of the floor tiles, but in our opinion, special skirting tiles just look better.

This is how it looks now in our finished state:

Regards,

Dirk
