Hi,
the same thought just came up with us. We somehow find white skirting boards clearly more stylish than tile skirting.
The tiles must have a gap to the wall anyway, so there is a joint that either you or the tiler should fill with silicone.
In rooms where there is often a lot of moisture (kitchen, hallway and bathrooms anyway) you might consider whether tile skirting boards are not better after all. If done properly, they provide a truly watertight wall finish, which is not necessarily the case with wooden skirting boards.
Another advantage of wooden skirting boards is the price; even with a fancy wooden skirting board, it is significantly cheaper than tile skirting boards.
Best regards,
Andreas
Fill the joint with silicone???
I would always prefer skirting tiles, as you can also nicely wipe with water without the water running under the skirting boards...
